Mike Kaufmann

Mike Kaufmann is chief executive officer of Cardinal Health, a global, integrated healthcare solutions company providing vital products, world class services and customized solutions for providers along the continuum of care.

During his nearly 30 years at Cardinal Health, Kaufmann has served in a wide range of executive leadership positions across operations, sourcing, sales and finance, touching all areas of Cardinal Health. Known for his creativity and grit, Kaufmann was instrumental in orchestrating key activities such as the joint venture with CVS Health that formed Red Oak Sourcing and the creation of Fuse, the Cardinal Health technology innovation center, among others.

Kaufmann passionately advocates for diversity and inclusion and co-sponsors the Cardinal Health Diversity and Inclusion Council, a group he formed to serve as a “board of directors” for diversity and inclusion efforts. The Council brings forward perspectives and cultivates real change through connection, listening and action. Recently he also formed the African American and Black Racial Equity Cabinet. This group serves as advisors on racial equity issues.

Previously Kaufmann served as executive sponsor of the Cardinal Health Women’s Initiative Network, an employee resource group fostering a culture of partnership that makes Cardinal Health a place where women want to work and grow their careers. His support of women leaders in healthcare has earned him recognition from both the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association and the Institute for Women’s Leadership.

In the business community, Kaufmann carries his passion for people and results to his service on boards. He currently serves as a member of the board of directors for MSC Industrial Supply, sits on the executive board of Red Oak Sourcing and is a member of the executive committee with the Columbus Partnership. Kaufmann also serves as a trustee at Ohio Northern University and is an active member of the community.

Prior to Cardinal Health, Kaufmann had a successful career in audit and consulting with Arthur Andersen, one of the nation’s largest public accounting firms. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.
