John Doulis, MD
Chief Information and Informatics Officer, HCA Healthcare
Dr. Doulis is an M.B.B.S., receiving his M.D. from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. Most recently, Dr. Doulis was the Senior Vice President of Clinical Solutions at First Data Bank (FDB) where he was responsible for the development of the clinical, clinical decision support, information technology, informatics and investment strategy.
Dr. Doulis is a Physician Executive with more than 20 years spent in designing, managing and perfecting information systems that support health and academic enterprises. Previously, Dr. Doulis served as the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs and COO of the Informatics Center at Vanderbilt University. In this role, he was the single point of focus for the Informatics Center’s efforts to provide the most effective informatics and information technology infrastructure to meet the needs of the diverse operating units that make up Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Vanderbilt University. As a practicing physician, he also focused on men’s health, the application of information technologies and the role of information sciences and technology in healthcare and biomedical science.
During Dr. Doulis’ time within private equity/venture capital, he has funded over 15 portfolio companies. Within these funded companies, he has served as the CEO and President of Digichart, Inc. and more recently, CEO of Informatics Corporation of America, guiding both companies to a successful exit. Dr. Doulis also participated on the board of a number of his funded portfolio companies, including GenomOncology, Mindcare Solutions, Quire Inc. and Angel Eye Inc. where he served as a Director.
