Widely recognised for her achievements in the fields of social entrepreneurship and digital technology, Jen Hyatt (jenhyatt.com) has founded or co-created over 30 organisations worldwide ranging from the National Telephone Helplines Association (now helplines.org) in the UK to a major grant making foundation in the Balkans. In 2007 Jen founded Big White Wall, as she recognised that stigma and poor access were preventing millions from getting mental health support. Using digital technology and data analytics, Big White Wall has transformed the mental health journey into one of personalised support and recovery that is available immediately and anonymously 24/7. In 2013, also Jen created the Collaborative on Health and Technology (ChaT) to help evidence-based digital healthcare companies achieve scale in the UK.
Jen has twice been selected as one the Health Service Journal’s top 50 innovators in healthcare and, in 2015 alone, was named a Schwab Foundation Global Social Entrepreneur, WCIT Social Entrepreneur of the Year, Red Magazine’s Digital Woman of the Year and awarded the NatWest everywoman Iris Award. She is a well-known public speaker, having keynoted at events such as mHealth and TEDMED. Currently, Jen continues to guide BWW’s strategic growth at Board level whilst launching new enterprises focused on using technology to improve access to legal advice and a digital approach to the improved social, physical and psychological health of teenagers. In 2015, Jen was invited to be a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts as well as sit on the Strategy Committee of the Guy’s and St Thomas Charity.
