Claudia Douglass is a principal and Grant Thornton LLP’s Healthcare industry growth leader. In this role, she helps the firm’s healthcare clients accelerate their transformation goals through enhanced and new offerings that span Grant Thornton’s service lines and geographic markets. She also provides strategic insights into trends by contributing to Grant Thornton’s publications, research initiatives and events.

As a former chief operating officer and strategy leader, Douglass has spent more than 30 years serving healthcare clients. Her experiences include a focus on developing and leading complex strategic initiatives across multiple business units — primarily in the areas of strategic growth, quality and consumer experience; population health; ambulatory strategy and operations; virtual care and cost reduction.

Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Douglass served as a principal in PwC’s Health Industries Advisory practice, where she worked as the firm’s global and U.S.co-leader of Hybrid Care and Digital Health. Before that, she was a managing director in Deloitte’s Advisory Healthcare and Health Plan practice, where she led the firm’s Strategic Risk offerings. Earlier in her career, Douglass served as a health system senior vice president and chief operating officer, as well as a vice president of strategy.

Douglass is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a certified Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute. She also is a member of the Healthcare Program Advisory Board for Winthrop University.

As a published thought leader, Douglass is also frequently invited to speak at industry conferences on topics related to strategy, operational transformation, leadership, virtual care, value-based care, digital transformation and enterprise risk management.

She received a master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in international finance and marketing from the University of Miami. Douglass also completed an executive education program on leading digital transformation in healthcare at Harvard Medical School.
